MCTC Volunteer Network

The MCTC Volunteer Network, which was launched in 2007, is a growing community of individuals who come together to give their time and talent to support the college and its students.

Volunteer opportunities include a wide array of activities ranging from mentoring and tutoring students to assisting with web searches for institutional planning to helping plant and maintain a college rain garden. These activities are designed to be flexible in the time commitment expected, and volunteers may choose to be involved on an occasional, periodic (the beginning of each semester), or more frequent basis.

Applicants to the Volunteer Network complete a form describing their skills, talents, and interests and agree to authorize a background check and participate in a general training session about MCTC. Once applicants are matched with an appropriate volunteer activity, additional, more specific training may also be required.

While making a significant contribution to MCTC and its students, volunteers also receive many rewards in return, including:

  • A chance to make a difference in the neighborhood and community
  • An opportunity to learn about different cultures
  • A connection to the college and other volunteers
  • Invitations to college arts, athletics, and social events
